STANFORD LIVE EVENT MAPS

Stanford Athletics along with Stanford Live approached us with a clear catalyst: BTS World Tour was coming to Stanford Stadium for three sold-out nights. 150,000+ fans on a campus that had only hosted its first-ever concert in 2025, with no fan-facing maps in existence yet to help them navigate it.

They came to us because of our experience designing maps for F1 circuits and major music festivals, with a clear goal: create an evergreen Stanford branded visual system designed to serve every major event at the stadium going forward.

The brief was to build a system from scratch that could guide fans through every stage of the experience: pre and during-show merchandise shopping, transportation and arrival, wayfinding and venue access, VIP, parking and more.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Working from existing campus references, we established a site footprint proportional to reality, defining the perimeter, determining which streets, walking paths, and transit routes to include, and plotting the major landmarks that would orient every map in the system.

From there we built the visual language: a map style guide developed to Stanford's brand, with a full color coding system across parking, VIP, and ADA zones, custom iconography and legend design, and an illustration aesthetic for landmarks and environmental detail, down to the trees. Once that foundation was in place, we built a whole system of specialized maps from it.

SPECIALIZED MAPS

A system of nine maps, each serving a distinct moment in the fan experience and all speaking the same visual language: in addition to the full site map of the stadium campus, we created early and show day merchandise maps, VIP Nation access map, parking and road closures maps, ADA maps, and pre/post traffic flow maps.
